The 2011 Latino Media Market™ is designed to bring funders, studio executives, distributors, dealmakers, agents, mentors, and employers together with NALIP members and their projects. Select producers can pitch scripts or concepts, show trailers or marketing materials, and otherwise 'sell' their projects, one-on-one, to decision makers interested in Latino projects.

The Latino Media Market™ consists of a meeting series for up to 32 selected projects. Filmmaker participants meet one-on-one with funders and executives who can commission pilot scripts and episodes, provide broadcast licenses or documentary completion funds, as well as fund feature development or production. Each selected project is presented to 50+ funders, distributors, broadcasters or commissioning editors; they identify the concepts most in line with their business objectives and request meetings with LMM Fellows.

Deadline for Submission is Monday, February 14, 2011 (postmarked). Selected projects will be notified by Monday, March 21, 2011. Meetings will be scheduled April 15 -16 during THE NEW NOW. THE NEW NOW will take place at The Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California.

The Non-Scripted Television Programming opportunity is available to all producers/creative individuals who have non-scripted programming ideas! Most networks target young mainstream viewers in a variety of platforms (TV, Broadband, Mobile) and they are looking for fresh entertainment concepts with lots of drama, and comedic and/or pop cultural appeal, but anything that is compelling could be viable. Bring them something about the "Latino Experience – NOW". When constructing your pitch, keep the following in mind:

  • Make sure your idea is viable for TV, Broadband, and Mobile. It helps if your concept can be repeated and rerun effectively. For it to sustain a long shelf life, think of programming that does not become dated due to a very specific topicality.
  • Producers love reality series with strong, original hooks, but they are not looking for the Latino version of "The Bachelor" or any other existing idea; so please be original!
  • Be vigilant with your budget. A modest budget does not mean low quality. As a producer, figure out a way to produce your concept in a cost efficient way.
  • Make it REAL. Ideas must come with a plan for execution. As part of your pitch, producers wants you to demonstrate how your concept will be produced – how the acts play out; a beginning, middle & end.
  • Depending on your level of experience, be open to collaborating with more established producers to realize your project.

To apply please provide 4 exact copies of ALL materials and one (1) CD containing electronic copies of the following:

  • Completed Filmmaker's Contact and Project Information form (part of this application)
  • Signed Release form (part of this application)
  • Each pitch must be submitted in writing (1-3 pages) plus a short 3-4 sentence synopsis and a genre
  • Project Status: Include talent to be considered, episode rundown including episodic goals, and explanation of what your role would be, if the project is green-lit, and a project bible if complete
  • Executive Summary: Bios of key creative team – e.g., Writer, Director, Producer, Cast
  • A current head shot/passport-style electronic photo in JPEG (.jpg) format
  • (1) CD containing electronic copies of all entry materials, including application

Completed application must be postmarked no later than Monday, February 14, 2011. NO EXTENSIONS.
